Arigon adds another award to list of honors thanks to the people at the American Indian Youth Literature Association, which is part of the larger American Library Association. The AILAs are announced in even years and seek to recognize “present American Indians in the fullness of their humanity in the present and past contexts.”

“I am so thrilled that my artwork for ‘Contenders’ was honored,” said Arigon. “Most folks know how passionate I am about baseball and Native America. To be able to combine my two major interests has been wonderful. So glad this journey with a major publishing house turned out this way!”

Arigon previously won the award for Best Middle School book for her editing/writing/artwork for “Tales of the Mighty Code Talkers” in 2018.
